The Catholic Chaplaincy is a place where faith is deepened and lasting friendships formed, so that we can witness to our faith through lives of love, joy, generosity, and, a commitment to evangelization.
We hope that everyone will feel welcome here in the Chaplaincy Centre. The Church is your home, your family - whatever your nationality, language, ethnicity, age or background, whatever your faith or doubts or struggles or questions. The Chaplaincy is a place where each person can be loved and accepted for who they are, and where each person can grow in their love of God.
Our Catholic chaplaincy team this year comprises members of our thriving CathSoc, Rani Hariga, the Associate Catholic Chaplain, and Fr Michael the Catholic Chaplain.
Each week during term time Mass is celebrated on campus and there are other opportunities for prayer and learning about your faith with Bible study, talks, reading groups, and our choir.
In addition students find volunteering opportunities both on campus and also in the local neighbourhood. We have contacts with different schools, and homeless projects, and work with various charities including Mary’s Meals and Aid to the Church in Need.
Through the course of the year there is plenty of socialising, film nights, cultural trips and visits to the Lake District, and pilgrimages to Rome and Santiago de Compostella, and an annual retreat at Ampleforth Abbey, and our Week of Guided Prayer run by the Jesuit Outreach project. This year Covid will present certain challenges but we will find new and creative ways to support and help each other.
Please come and get involved, and bring your friends too.
